The room was large, bright and comfortable The hotel has a large pool and an on site bakery, which sells overpriced goods but some nice fresh products (good sandwiches, for example, at 4 times the price of a local restaurant) The tv has a range of international channels Beach towels are provided by the hotel Grab taxis can be arranged to the hotel, as well as Grab food delivery. A local cartel will heckle you as you leave the hotel - ignore them.We arrived in the midst of Covid-19 Hysteria. Unfortunately, this lead to a myriad of problems. 1) the hotel was largely deserted. Hyatt took this as an excuse to close the majority of it down, including most of the restaurants, the additional facilities such as the ability to kayak on the sea and the spa 2) the staff insisted we paid the entire bill for our stay up front - not sure why this was necessary, as no other hotel in Vietnam had demanded this. It was also asked in an impolite manner 3) most of the local restaurants had also closed, but the hotel concierge had to be cajoled into booking replacements for us. 4) the staff commissioned loud repairs on the hotel whilst we were sleeping in adjacent quarters on multiple occasions (late at night and in mornings). They only stopped this after I complained 5) a room full of bugs - more bites here than any other hotel we stayed at in Vietnam 6) the balcony's sliding door was broken when we arived and had to be repaired twice 7) the private beach had been closed due to jellyfish landings (a genuine concern, but it's bad of the hotel to market itself on this basis) 8) most of the local attractions were closed (unless you're an East Asian tourist, as the attractions for these communities are still open e.g. Ba Na Hills) 9) the shower temperature could not be maintained and would vary between scalding and cold on the same setting 10) a lot of the staff were not particularly cordial or polite, although some were nice and made a genuine effort to help 11) beer in the minibar is 10 times the local cost. If a can of beer in a fridge in your home nation was 10 times the price you pay in a supermarket, surely that would constitute extortion.
Fantastic room and facilities.Booking.com advertised it as half board and then the hotel wouldn’t honour it. The receptionist was very rude about this. The manager then was very very nice and upgraded our room to apologise. Booking.com showed us that in the small print that it said you only got one dinner per stay so wasn’t half board. Disappointed with both parties for putting half board in the meal plan section.
