A wonderful little hotel with clean rooms, superlative staff, and a great location.

This is a great hotel with very courteous and friendly staff. The location is excellent, given its location near My Khe Beach area and the city center. The breakfast buffet, while the selection was relatively small, was excellent. The rooms themselves were a little on the small side but were very clean and comfortable. This isn't a criticism of the Sofiana hotel in particular, but of Vietnamese hotels in general. However, the Sofiana still suffers from this phenomenon I'm about to describe. I have to wonder about the choices made in furnishing the bathrooms in these places. As an example, our room's bathroom had a large window right above the bathtub that faced the inside of the hotel room itself. The window had some retractable horizontal blinds to offer some privacy, but I simply don't understand why the bathroom needed such a large window to begin with, unless those who designed the rooms felt that guests wanted to see each other taking a shower or a dump. Also, as is common in Vietnam, the shower plumbing fixtures looked crude and not all that well designed or made. Finally, the water from the shower often ended up on the bathroom floor due to the design of the bathtub rim. Puzzling!
