Very nice ground with good upkeep. Beautiful swimming pool. Spacious room. Good AC. Good breakfast. Staff at breakfast are great.1. Slow WiFi 2. Management policies. Rigid, uptight, impersonal. They seem to regard guests as business adversaries rather than customers to be pleased. Overcharged for transfer service from the airport. Charged us more for 15 km trip from airport than we were charged for airport transfer of longer distance in Hanoi. Insisted several times over the phone that we would have to pay transfer fees the moment we check in, as if we would cheat them out of it. Taking the hotel shuttle to town, we requested to be dropped off at a point along their route. The front desk said “no”, citing “against policy”. I pointed out that it would take about 30 seconds to unload us, with no extra cost or trouble for the hotel, the staff had to consult management before calling back to say yes. Hotel charged my credit card $VN 4MM as “reserve”, to be refunded 2-3 weeks later, after checkout. No hotel I stayed at in VN did this. We took the taxi from town back to the hotel twice, each time costing $VN 75k. The hotel wanted to charge $VN125k if we request the shuttle outside their regular schedule. It seems they are using the shuttle as a profit generator instead of as a convenience amenity for their guests. They could have charged the same as a taxi, instead they want to charge their guests more. This is not a complaint against the ladies that work there. They are very nice. It’s management policies that left an unpleasant taste for us. The shuttle to town would drop us right in front of a restaurant owned by the hotel, and the driver was trained to try to usher us into that restaurant. In view of the hotel’s unpleasant policies, we decided against spending extras at the hotel, e.g. restaurants, transportation, etc. Overall it is a beautiful facility. We enjoyed our stay overall, but did not appreciate hotel policies that are rigid and impersonal. All hotels we have stayed at in VN went out of their way to make customers feel welcome and valued. Not Pilgrimage Village.
It’s a stunning hotel, big rooms and comfortable beds. The pool is beautiful and a welcome relief from the heat. Guests can take bikes for free and explore. We wanted to find some rest here after our family joined us off the plane.Since booking we had wanted this to be relaxing but the constant what’s app messaging from the hotel staff about every detail the weeks before made it stressful and it felt the hotels main focus was making as much money as possible and not the clam invisible service we do desired. Things are complicated and cost focused and over involved
