The hotel itself, and the people working on it. The two ladies at the reception were extremely nice and helpful: they recommended us places to go to visit, and a very good (and cheap) local restaurant where we had one of the best meals we've had in Vietnam so far. And even the driver was friendly if we take out his push to sell us a suite 😏.We hired a private car to go to our next stop in our trip (in Hoi An). We made it clear several times (at the reception, and also to the driver) that we wanted to get straight to our hotel in Hoi An. First, he didn't take the shortest way: for some reason he left the main road to get into Da Nang city center, at peak hour (school kids were leaving) and traffic was a chaos. After that, he insisted a lot to bring us to a tailor he knew in Hoi An where we could get very cheap and good quality suites, and even if we said several times we didn't want, he kept pushing. He even rejected once to know the hotel we were going, saying "later, after we get to Hoi An". Only when I handed over the Google Maps in navigation mode he followed the route hints, but he never said a single word in the rest of the trip. Overall, what should have been a "nearly 3 hours drive" ended up in being "an almost 4 hours drive" 😤 It's a pity, because the driver had been very friendly up to that point, but when you pay an overprice to book a private car (and doing that in a "nice" hotel like this clearly has an overprice), you don't expect the same tricks from the driver to bring you to selling places like you would expect on a lower priced car, hired in a random tiny agency.
Great view/location. A nice touch receiving complimentary cocktail + foot massage vouchers on arrival. The pool was pretty disgusting. Thick film of sludge on the top. It needs a better filter or a stricter enforcement of the shower before you enter rule.
