A peaceful family homestay with good food, beautidul art, and wonderful location

The family is so friendly and caring, and I really loved being around all the beautiful paintings. The food was authentic Vietnamese, but they catered to my vegetarian diet.Everything was great.

Special homestay experience on the fringes of the old imperial city

The host family are extremely helpful and friendly and went out of their way to ensure I had a comfortable stay and enjoyed my visit to the historic dotes of Hue. They provided information on sites nearby and arranged taxis. They also arranged a rental bike which I used on a couple of days. I particularly loved the food. The room comes with breakfast and I also ate in 2 nights for dinner. The hosts provided an amazing variety of simple yet tasty dishes for all meals without any recourse to the tired baguettes you normally get. Also as they run a cafe next door you get proper Vietnamese coffee for breakfast rather than nescafe. If needed there are a number of cafes and restaurants within walking distance. I liked the room which is on the first floor which are nice sitting out areas and use of a private bathroom. The decor is lovely and made really special by all the artwork around as the host is a professional painter. His wife is also a designer so between them they create a lovely environment in which to stay. The location required a little organising but worked out well. Taxis in Hue are very good and all on meters. Fare from the station was only 50,000 dong and to the citadel a little more. It is easy to cycle to the citadel and nearby sites e.g.Tu Duc Tomb as the roads are fairly flat but you need motorised transport for the southerly sites, (Khai Dam and Minh Mang tombs) . Ideally a motorbike is the cheapest option but a taxi wasn't too bad as they stop the meter when you visit the sites.
